What We Collect

When you create an account and use EventBrief we collect the following information.

Information you give us directly

  • Your email address when you sign up
  • Your job title and company name if you choose to enter them during onboarding
  • The topics and sources you choose to follow
  • Articles you save and any private notes you write on those articles

Information collected automatically

  • Basic usage data such as which pages you visit and which features you use, collected through PostHog analytics
  • Authentication cookies that keep you logged in between sessions

What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect payment information. EventBrief is currently free to use and we do not process any payments.

We do not use advertising tracking cookies or share your data with advertising networks.

We do not sell your personal data to any third party under any circumstances.

Why We Collect Your Data

We use your email address to send you account verification emails and your daily EventBrief briefing if you have opted in to email delivery.

We use your job title and company name to personalise your experience on the platform.

We use your topic and source preferences to show you the most relevant content in your feed.

We use anonymous usage analytics to understand how people use EventBrief so we can improve the product.

Who We Share Your Data With

We work with a small number of trusted third party services to operate EventBrief. These are:

Resend — used to send transactional emails including account verification and daily briefings. Resend processes your email address for this purpose.

MongoDB — the database where your account information and preferences are stored securely.

PostHog — used for anonymous product analytics. PostHog collects usage data but this is anonymised and not linked to your personal identity.

Emergent — the hosting platform on which EventBrief runs. Your data is stored on Emergent's infrastructure.

No other third parties have access to your personal data. We never sell your data.

How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you would like us to delete your account and all associated data please email hello@event-brief.com and we will action your request within 30 days.

Your Rights Under UK GDPR

If you are based in the United Kingdom or European Union you have the following rights regarding your personal data.

Right of access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct any inaccurate data we hold about you.

Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your personal data.

Right to object — you can object to us processing your personal data in certain circumstances.

Right to data portability — you can request your data in a portable format.

Cookies

EventBrief uses cookies for two purposes only. We use authentication cookies to keep you logged in between sessions so you do not have to log in every time you visit. We use anonymous analytics cookies through PostHog to understand how people use the platform. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies of any kind.

Third Party Links

EventBrief displays articles sourced from third party publications. When you click Read Full Article you are taken to the original publisher's website. Those websites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their data practices.

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this privacy policy we will notify registered users by email. The date at the top of this page will always reflect when the policy was last updated.
